Body of the River

One day during the pandemic I was kayaking on the Hudson when I had an abrupt sensation that I was moving across a torso instead of a river. I could sense it’s head in the Adirondacks and feet in NY Harbor, and I was gliding over and through a rippling animal which, like me, was composed of muscles bones & flesh. I can’t explain much more than that, but that’s how I see the river ever since then.
