Body of the River

One day during the pandemic I was kayaking on the Hudson when I had an abrupt sensation that I was moving across a torso instead of a river. I could sense its head in the Adirondacks and the feet in NY Harbor, and I was gliding over and through a living being which, like me, possessed muscles bones & flesh. I can’t explain much more than that, but since then, that is how I see the river.
